There are a lot of social media psd tumblr posts out there, and most are either hilarious or informative. Some are just plain dumb. But what I like about this post is how it goes from funny to informative within the span of two-and-a-half paragraphs.
This guy’s post is just plain dumb, but it’s actually quite educational. He uses a lot of examples to explain how people use social media in a way that makes them seem normal, at least to him. In other words, he’s giving us a little bit of a peek into how normal people use social media, and it’s not as weird and overplayed as some of the memes that get posted.
The guy who made this is actually a person who makes memes and things (I dont know, maybe he has one of the best faces in the world or something…). But there is a really interesting point in here. The guy explains how the most common posts on Twitter and Facebook are like a diary to him, which is exactly where he found himself after he woke up on his Deathloop island.
Of course, it’s always fun to talk about someone else’s weirdness and stuff, but this is actually pretty interesting. It’s basically how I got to this blog in the first place. I never really thought about how my own weirdness might be linked to my thoughts and ideas and whatever else I’m thinking about. So I think maybe if I was a person with a really weird and unusual mind, I’d have a lot more weird and unusual things to say.
Well, you’re not alone in thinking that. Some people are convinced that everything that’s wrong with their personality, or their social skills, or whatever else they’ve tried to change about themselves somehow comes from something in their social media. And we all have to admit that it does seem like a pretty plausible theory to me. The way I think about it is that sometimes what we think of as “familiar” is actually quite unfamiliar, and yet we think it’s familiar.
In the early days of social media, the thing that many people didn’t realize was how much their favorite bands were actually on Facebook. In fact, the amount of music that was posted about a certain band on Twitter was probably more than the band themselves had ever posted about them on Facebook. But what you don’t realize is that these bands have been posting their music to the internet for decades.
In the early days, bands like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and the Who all had their own Facebook pages. These pages were filled with photos of the bands, and fans could interact with the bands in their own words. And if you were a fan of a band you liked, you could keep up with them in realtime on Facebook, even if you couldnt see them on stage.
The problem with Facebook is that fans of a band are often the ones that are “liking” them, which is a bit like a “like” button for music. Fans can “like” a band in the Facebook sense, but they can also “like” them for any number of reasons.
To make it work, fans had to create pages in which they could show off pictures and videos of their favorite bands. It was like a like button for music.
Facebook’s “like” button was the result of a long-running campaign to get a new way to let fans know if they liked a band. The band would like a page and fans would like them if they liked the page. Then the fans would like the band by liking the page. This worked in theory, but it was never actually implemented because it was slow and cumbersome.
